About Us

Annamalaiyar Arappani Kuzhu started with a handful of devotees in 2006. Pained at the callousness and utter indifference of the local population which neglected the proper maintenance of ancient heritage temples, this group decided to do cleaning work in such historic temples to restore their past glory.

Starting in a small way at Kuranganilmuttam in 2006, this group, which now has over 100 volunteers, covers atleast one temple every month to do the uzhavarappani of cleaning, painting, whitewashing etc. Besides, the group also provides oil for lighting deepams to a few temples in remote villages that are totally starved of any financial help. This blog is an attempt to document the activities of this group from Feb.2012 onwards
